Antalgic-Trak Spinal Decompression is the New Decompression.

The majority of spine and disc injuries come from traumas that typically involve a form of spinal compression. The pressures created from compression injuries bulge or herniate the discs and presses them against the nerves.  Auto whiplash can create multiple compression injuries throughout the spine. From our experience, these injuries require a very specialized therapy program such as the ANTALGIC-TRAK. Work and sports injuries create them as well. Compressions also come from lifting, pushing, pulling and twisting.

New advancements in the field of spine and disc therapy have improved the treatment success rate. In fact a recent research study on ROM decompression has shown that the combination of ROM (range-of-motion) therapy along with spinal decompression achieves a better result than than either therapy alone.

Antalgic-Trak

This is the FDA-Cleared Antalgic-Trak. It is a medical device that combines range-of-motion therapy with spinal decompression and is the most advanced system of its kind in the world.

  • Spinal decompression treats the spine by gently and slowly elongating it. The soothing  and rhytmic pumping increases the spacing between each compressed areas . This relieves the pressure that cause disc bulging and herniation. As the spine is elongated it becomes decompressed.
  • The repetitive action of decompression creates an inner disc-vacuum pressure (or negative pressure). The vacuum draws and retracts the bulged or herniated disc material off the nerve and back into the disc. The process relieves pressures within the disc allowing the stretched or torn disc cartilage fibers to begin healing. That means relief.
  • The repetitive "passive motion therapy" of spinal decompression can stimulate the formation of chondroblasts (baby cartilage cells). Once the chondroblasts migrate into the cracks and tears of the disc they become chondrocytes where they heal into the matrix of the disc cartilage.

The Inner Material called the "Nucleus Pulposis": This is the inner gelatinous center that acts as a ball-bearing shock absorber (like the inner jelly of the doughnut).

    B) The Outer Material called the "Annulus Fibrosis": Surrounding the inner nucleus pulposis is the outer annulus fibrosis. The outer annulus fibrosis is made up of rubber-band like layers of fibro-elastic cartilage tissue. Its job is to contain the the inner nucleus pulposus (like the outer doughnut).

The migration of the inner disc "nucleus pulposis" (jelly) through the outer "annulus fibrosis" (doughnut) is called a herniated disc.
